How to make a passport size photo

  1. Upload a front-facing photo of yourself — good light, plain background, looking straight at the camera.
  2. The Passport Photo Maker opens by default on this page. Pick your size: Pakistan Passport (35 × 45 mm) is pre-selected, or search for your country — US Visa 2 × 2 inch, UK, India, Canada and 30+ more sizes are listed.
  3. Drag the photo to centre your face in the frame, and use the zoom slider until your head fills the frame the way a passport photo should.
  4. Pick a background colour — white, red, blue or any custom colour. Choosing a colour removes the old background automatically.
  5. Click “Download Passport Photo” and save the exact-size PNG or JPG.

How it works

Passport photos are defined by exact pixel sizes at 300 dpi: a Pakistan passport photo is 35 × 45 mm, which is 413 × 531 pixels. This tool draws your photo onto a canvas of exactly those dimensions, so the downloaded file is the right size to the pixel — no guessing, no cropping in another app. The background is removed by flood fill from the edges: only the background connected to the border is removed, so the colour never lands on your face or clothes.

Worked example: a phone selfie (3000 × 4000 px) set to Pakistan Passport 35 × 45 mm, zoomed to 1.4× so the face fills the frame, with a white background, downloads as a 413 × 531 px JPG — ready to attach to the passport form or print at a photo studio. For a US visa, the same photo at 2 × 2 inch (600 × 600 px) with a white background is the standard size.

Common uses

Passports and visas are the main use — Pakistan passport (35 × 45 mm), US visa (2 × 2 inch), UK passport (35 × 45 mm), Indian passport (2 × 2 inch) and Schengen visas all have their own sizes, and this tool lists them all. ID cards, driving licences, university admission forms, job applications and exam registrations (MDCAT, ECAT, CSS) usually ask for a 35 × 45 mm or 2 × 2 inch photo too.

It is also useful when a form asks for a photo with a specific background colour: many Pakistani government forms want a white or blue background, and some embassies insist on white. Instead of visiting a studio, you can make the photo at home and upload it in minutes.

Tips

Take the photo against a plain wall in daylight, facing the camera with a neutral expression and both eyes open — that is what passport offices check first. Avoid shadows on the wall behind you, and take off sunglasses and hats; most passport rules also ask for no glasses with tinted lenses. If the background removal looks rough around the hair, your background was probably too busy: retake the photo against a plain light wall and it will come out clean.

Always check the exact size your form asks for before downloading — a US visa photo (600 × 600 px) and a Pakistan passport photo (413 × 531 px) are different shapes, and submitting the wrong one is the most common reason a photo is rejected. When in doubt, download the size the form names, not the one you assume.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a Pakistan passport photo?

35 × 45 mm, which is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 dpi. That size is pre-selected on this page. For a US visa it is 2 × 2 inch (600 × 600 px), and for an ID card it is usually 30 × 40 mm (354 × 472 px) — all three are one click away.

Can I change the background colour?

Yes. Pick white, red, blue, navy or light blue from the Classical set, one of the 18 Stylish colours, or any custom colour. Choosing a colour removes your old background automatically, so the new colour fills the whole background.

Is the photo accepted by passport offices?

The file is the exact size and format passport forms ask for, and the tool follows the standard rules (plain background, face centred, no shadows). Acceptance also depends on your photo itself — good light, neutral expression, no glasses or hats — so check your country's photo rules before submitting.

Do you upload or store my photo?

No. Everything runs in your browser — your photo never leaves your device, is never stored, and cannot be seen by anyone else.

Can I print the photo after downloading?

Yes. The downloaded file is at 300 dpi, which is print quality. Take it to any photo studio and ask for a print at the same size (for example 35 × 45 mm), or print it yourself on photo paper.
